Ponce De Leon West Coast MySpace

Juneteenth the 13th , 2007 • Homewasteland

Huevos Christ, do people even look at homepages any more? MySpace has obliterated webpages like mp3's obliterated CD's. The ulimate result is that there will no longer be any visual representation of music, i.e., the art of the album leaf.

So anyway, we're working on these things: the new album, putting a blog together to share our geniusesque thoughts more easily, a tour in the west for July, and some videos maybe, for the Youtuberculosis Generation.

Keep a sharp lookout for font changes up the yanger too.

Jan 3rd , 2007 • Rebirth of a Nation of Cool

Well, fucking hell if this isn't going to be our year! Some new things that prove this...

1. To handle the multi-faced task of the business of the Ponce, we have created a Ponce De Leon West Coast office in the MySpace corporate headquarters.

2. We should have our second album done this year. We're all pretty psyched how it's coming out so far. I think there'll be a new site to go along with it too. Or at least a revamp because the art of the website is being forgotten thanks to the aforementioned "website." Oh and a couple little tours too.

3. A show at Il Corral in L.A. on February 5th.

4. A screening of our musical "The Island of Florida: A Foundation Myth" on January 7th in LA. at:

Mandrake
2692 S La Cienega Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90034
(between Venice Blvd and Washington Blvd)

John should have some DVD's of it for sale too!

Nov 22nd, 2006 • Happy Tofurks Robin Givens

Happy Thanks-getting. Meanwhile...

We've gone and gone digital. This is big time huge big news for those of you who've wanted to score the PDL deep track "Where's My Papa?" or/and/as well as get the sweet mp3 versions of the record, but didn't know how:

Well, here's the three-headed how: >>>iTunes >>>Beatport >>>Emusic

(For those of you Limewirers, we're not big enough yet, so you're going to have to wait for that venue!)

Oh, and also, the compilation mentioned in the Sept. 15th entry in our newzblåugg has been postponed a tad, maybe til January. "Memoirs" will most likely be on it and another song we haven't decided yet. We're still kicking out hit songs for the next album so we'll see where it all fits together...

Sept 15th, 2006 • Trials and Tribes

Egads, what a summer it's been! John went ahead and graduated from college; Greg went ahead and moved to Philadelphia; Dave went ahead and broke his hand punching someone in the gut.

(You know I'll use a semicolon whenever I can.)

Work on the new album remains steady if not agonizingly slow. Most of these songs were actually written before the first album came out in a frenzied heat of creativity, but the process of finishing them remains an insurmountable task.

But with song titles like, "Writing My Memoirs," "Local Virgins," "My Name is Delian Ponzales," "Cetaceous Society" & "I Sing The Regrets of the Egrets," you know it's going to be on point like a poinsettia.

We'll have some of the new flavor out on a Thorn 01 comp coming out in November though. So keep a sharp, hot eyeball out for it, y'all.

April 17th, 2006 • A post about May 13th, 2006

We're performing the musical for real; "The Island of Florida: A Creation Myth" in a crazy, round performance center (Like Applebottom Jeans) called The Velaslavasay Theatre in LA. It's like a cross between Krumping and Masterpiece Theatre. Come one, come all... May 13th. [Shows Page]

Shitbomb. I forgot to put up the pics from the Christmas show. Those will be viewable soon--they're too good to be denied admittance to the U.N. (The Unbelievable Nuggets.)

Note to self: More rainbow shit everywhere.

March 31th, 2006 • Seat of Pants/Skin of Teeth

So I had to get this "news" item in before the clock struck midnight because I didn't want you to think that everything I wrote was a sendup--a la April Fools Day. It's the world I've created, and I'm okay living in it. (Hey, I have an idea! Let's make every day April Fools Fuckin' Day.... And You Will Known Us By the Trail of the Foolish...)

Anyway, Heerrrree we go. The news as it is, as split up by coast: On the West, we have John, diligently working on his thesis, "The Island of Florida," our musical. It was test-performed last week and it went very well. It will be brought to the big stage in May. Stay tuned for that. On the East Coast, we have Greg, diligently wailing on his crotch-enhancing noise squealer. And adding sound to the new record, where before it was silent--like how Michelangelo merely carves out the space around his sculptures--now it is chock-ful o' genital obscuring leaves in stone (sonically).

Here are some pictures of each occurrence. It's fun to figure out what coast it's happening on!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and here is a picture of a guy I went to high school with hitting on a woman three times his age.

Jan 5th, 2006 • The PDL N-o-R-o-G

Is it even worth mentioning? The New Year? You already know it happened. You don't come here for calendrics. You come here to get your wig blown back by the Ponce De Leon News-o-Rama-o-Gorgonzolla...

We're playing at The Gig in L.A.--so come get served. On January 8th.............

Click this to get the details. (And to get served.)

P.S. The Mercury Show was good. There was tons of weird energy flying around the room like some 18th century ghosts and whatnot. But at least they were high energy. Were there tequilla shots in Dickens' time? At any rate, we'll be having pix 'n' movies up soon. So.

Dec 5 th, 2005 • Grandma Got Runover...

Cool beans and hot dogs! We're playing at the Mercury Lounge on Sunday, December 18th. This will be our only show in New York for a while, at least until the spring, maybe longer, so you would be remiss to miss this jam!

Nov 28th, 2005 • Three Pieces of News/Info

Some news snippets to tide you over while the 300 lbs. of turducken you just ate wends its way through your intestines...

1) We're now fully engaged in recording the second album. 60 songs. It's going to be nuts, to the tune of... full-on bananas.

2) We're trying to get a show for the third week in December in NY. If you want us to put jam on your stage's bread, get at us. We know our shows have been pretty sparse lately, but we're planning on changing that very soon.

3) We're working on a musical. To be performed next spring. Possibly all over the planet.

Cocktober 10th, 2005 • Tør Pixx & Future Jam

Looking at these pictures I can't help but sing out loud the lyrics to Bandway's "Live" from their album Night Rock:

looking back on it all it seems/outrageous parties and backstage dreams...

So check out the tour-vibe we're throwing out.

ITEM #2: Oh Shhhhhhhiiiiiiiiazzz! We're playing a show on November 8th at The Smell. If you want the deets, cruise over to the live 'n' fx wad.

Oct 5th, 2005 • Why'd You Do It, Fluffy?

Just a quick note to let you know we're going to be featured as the musical guest on Fluff In Brooklyn's podcast. Starting on October 10th, I beleive!

Sept 24th, 2005 • All Tangled Up in Cotton

Just arrived by junk from China! Be the first on your block to rock the PDL body sock: "The Ponce De Leon Melting Dolphin T-Shirt."

Actually, the shirts were made by Bens of Brooklyn--a company run by this guy Ben who lives and works in Brooklyn, NYC, NY. Totally local, hombre... CLICK on through to the other side. (The Paypal side, y'all.)

SEPT 18th, 2005 • Press Here

Ch-ch-check it out... The press stuff will here-to-fore be on the links page.

There's reviews and rants on us in Mix Magazine (in the September issue and online), Exoduster.com and Music For Robots so far. And John did a sweet segment on "Smash or Trash" on WFMU last month that's really funny. So, read along; cry tears of joy and laugh your peals of pure, unadulterated vitriol, won't you? What?

SEPT 6th, 2005 • AWESOME vs. EXTREME

Tons and tons of news, y'all. The tour was really fun and we had a blast blowing bands out of the water up and down the eastern seaboard. We saw a million faces and rocked them all the same. We'll have the rock/face pix up soon with, like, some kind of tour-journal thingie. (We all kept diaries with rainbows on them and wrote exclusively with My Little Pony pencils, as per our exclusive contract with Lisa Frank International, Inc. )

Thank you to everyone that supported us and gave us your hand clappin'.

We have t-shirts now too and are starting to get a little press, which is all good. That stuff will be up soon too. Just hold tight, hold your horses, keep your pants on, don't loose your cool, cool your jets, Jet!

Wet spill in aisle three.

JULY 21st, 2005 • Ponce to Play For People

We finally have confirmed dates. We're playing in August. All the dates so far are on the east coast, toast, and the shows are going to be great. We're playing with really good bands for some reason. Do I need to put a CLICK thing here for the shows page? Yes. So come and see us and say "Hello, let's fucking party." That will be the code word. Phrase.

In other news, can someone please hook us up with West Coast shows?!?!? Fuck!*

JULY 15th, 2005 • New Site, Nü Metal

Hi, so this is the new site. Let us know what you think... Hopefully it evokes thoughts of harmony and beauty in your mind, or at least pleasant odors. Everything you need to stay ahead of the PDL curve is here at this site--no need for those countless bloggy fansites. This is the REAL DEAL!

Our first record is out now... We are well chuffed, as the British say. It was released this month on Thorn01, a hot label from California, land of the hot hippies and even hotter political scene. You can score it off their site and at Amoeba Records so far.

We've played a couple of shows since the record came out and are planning a tour of the West & East Coasts for August. Come see us play; we play hard; playing hard is what we do; sometimes we play soft, but only to make the hardness seem, shall we say, harder. You won't be let down.

ITEM!: One Singular sensation: THE WEEKLY DOLPHINS TRICKED OUT WITH SUBWOOFERS.... The old site will be ready for viewing in updated form soon. We still plan to wow you with new stuff in it, just got to format that biotch first, y'all. Keep your pants on. Wait. Scratch that. Take your pants off.

OK, I'm In 'n' Audi like Buster Douglas
